What is the Difference between Cooking Oven and Lab Oven?

What is the Difference between Cooking Oven and Lab Oven?

The cooking oven is designed for cooking and the lab drying oven is for lab use, they have the following difference:

1.Different in Size:

For cooking ovens, there are 2 kinds:for home use cooking oven and for restaurant cooking ovens.
For lab drying ovens, the sizes are designed according to the requirements of the experiments.

2.Different in temperature range:

For cooking ovens, the temperature is usually 110 ℃ to 230 ℃(the value is different according to the manufacturer’s setting but most cooking ovens are in this temperature range.),such temperature is the best temperature for cooking.
Usually the temperature range for a lab drying oven is from room temperature + 10 ℃ to 250 ℃ or 300 ℃,some lab drying ovens have ever higher temperatures.

3.Different in temperature control accuracy(ie.the temperature probe is different)

For cooking oven, the temperature probe does not need to be very accurate because 5-10 ℃ in cooking will not affect the taste of food so much;but for lab oven, the temperature is an important parameter to lab drying oven,it must be ± 1℃,± 2℃ or less.

4.Different method of temperature uniformity.

For small home use cooking ovens, natural wind can be formed inside,so no need to take any action, but for large size restaurant use cooking ovens,to make the temperature more even, usually the tray for the holding the food can be rotated.
To make the inner temperature in a uniform state,a fan will always be equipped for a lab drying oven.

5.The inner shelf is different.

The shape of the inner shelf for a cooking oven is usually a plate or a plate with some small holes, such design can hold the soup dropped during the baking process. The food can be placed on the clean shelf directly.
For lab drying ovens, the shelf is usually net shaped or a plate with a lot of big holes, such design can make the hot air go through to make the temperature in a well uniformity state.Usually, the tested material if small size is not put on the shelf directly,it will be put on the crucible first to heat.

6.The control panel is different.

The control panel of cooking oven is designed for the convenience of uses. The control panel is divided into two parts:(1).normal temperature setting.(2).shortcut keys for common recipe cooking:This part is specially set by the manufacturer. Before facing the market, the manufacturer carefully formulates common recipes, carefully repeatedly tested the baking temperature and time, carefully recorded them, and finally synthesizes them on the shortcut key. For example, the shortcut key of home-made roasted chicken is that the manufacturer found through repeated experiments that the delicious roasted chicken can be obtained at about how many degrees Celsius and how long it is roasted in his oven, so such setting is integrated into the shortcut key of oven.
For cooking ovens, such data of the experiment is not important, but nice food is important.
So different from cooking ovens, the nice roasted chicken is not so important, the data record is important. So for our drying ovens, the user can preset 15 groups of program and each group has 30 steps. The user can take record easily and if he want,he can choose an extra interface to the computer to make every step recorded.

Can a lab oven used as a cooking oven?

Of course, but the setting will be a bit complicated, because all the heating temperature and time should be set by the user himself.
